Who are Reading XL FC and what the hell is this all about???
XL FC is a unique weight loss club aimed at men who want to shed pounds while enjoying the beautiful game of football. We offer weekly weigh-in sessions coupled with 11-a-side football sessions, focusing on fostering weight loss through physical activity and camaraderie. As members progress in their weight loss journey and fitness levels, they will have the opportunity to participate in 11-a-side matches with other like-minded clubs nationwide.
Why are we raising funds?
Reading XL FC is not just a football club; it's a lifeline for overweight men in Reading, Berkshire, dedicated to shedding pounds and embracing healthier lifestyles through the beautiful game.
Now, we have the chance of a lifetime — to fly across the world to small Micronesian country northeast of Australia called Nauru, a country battling one of the highest obesity rates in the world, and play a national team led by former Premier League star, Dave Kitson.

This match is more than a friendly; it's a beacon of hope for a country with a huge obesity problem.
With Dave Kitson spearheading Nauru's first team as manager and ambassador, we aim to inspire and ignite a movement towards healthier living, both in Nauru and back home.
Together, we can help tackle the obesity crisis and foster a legacy of fitness and well-being. Speaking about the project, Kitson said:
"I'm a firm believer in leaving something in a better shape than how you found it. I hope we can do that."
"I want to help with the health and fitness of the people on the island, we want to implement a football programme that can get kids playing the sport."
